A Warm Welcome to Mary Paterson!

Mary Paterson is a homely, creative and inclusive maintained nursery school with a beautiful garden based in a vibrant community in north-west Westminster.

Our values of ‘Creativity’, ‘Belonging’, and ‘Adventurous’ run through everything we do:

Belonging: A ‘home from home’. We want all children, families and staff to feel valued, included, secure and connected, fostering a sense of belonging and community that encourages kindness, respect, and the confidence to build meaningful relationships.

Creativity: We want children to be curious, imaginative, and confident in expressing their ideas, using creativity to explore the world, solve problems, develop critical thought and to bring their unique visions to life.

Adventurous: We want children to be adventurous as they take on new challenges and grow their confidence through the rich opportunities we provide to engage with nature and the wider world around them, leaving us with a ‘can do’ attitude for life.

Children and families who join our nursery become part of our nursery family. We really value the relationships we build with each child and family. Parents enjoy opportunities to get involved, including an exciting range of trips in the local area and wider City, and taking part in special community events and celebrations.

We are a Forest School. This means that your child will have the opportunity to do Forest School sessions off-site in the woods and that we integrate a Forest School approach into our learning within the nursery, ‘bringing the outside in’.

We are a musical school with a team of talented musical staff. The children express themselves creatively, through music, dance, yoga, role-play, model making, sewing and woodwork.

Mary Paterson is made up of a wonderful team of staff who really care and value the importance of your child’s early years and want your child to have fun, feel secure and be happy. Staff enjoy working here because we respect and support each other, keep learning and keep having fun.

As one member of staff has said: “when the children leave it is always emotional for us because we put so much in”.
